Working with students, coaches, and parents
Being physically active is great for your kids’ health, but as physical activity increases, so does the risk for injury. Our certified athletic trainers (ATCs) are medical experts in preventing, recognizing, managing and rehabilitating injuries on and off the field.
Safety + Students First
Our Athletic Trainers help athletes avoid unnecessary medical treatment, disruption of normal daily life, and spend a great deal of time introducing injury prevention techniques to students. When a student gets injured on the field, suffers a concussion, back pain, torn ACL, or other sports related injury, our trainers are on site to treat the issue as soon as possible. As part of a complete health care team, our certified athletic trainers work with our student athletes, athletic directors, coaches and parents.
Premier Sports Medicine Care
When it comes to working with young athletes, we don’t take our jobs lightly. Our Athletic Trainers are responsible for providing preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. In the Grant, Cedar Springs, Coopersville, and Grand Rapids’ Covenant Christian school districts we’re on campus year round and attend the sporting events. When an injury does occur, our ATCs work hand-in-hand with our physical therapists to provide the best sports medicine care for their athletes. For more information, please contact our Coopersville location at 616.997.6172.
Athletic Trainers are trained in CPR, AED use, concussion recognition, and concussion management.
We're always proud to receive glowing remarks about our athletic trainers!
“I just received note from athletic trainer Rachel Sprenger regarding a concussion on one of the students. Please thank her and commend her for her good work — great report, thorough testing. If this is representative of all her work, then Covenant Christian has a great athletic trainer.” – Dr. Brian Decker, Grand Rapids/Jenison
We offer a variety of kids programs throughout the year.
