FEELING GOOD

"The help I’ve received from NPT has been tremendous. The staff were friendly and put me at ease right away. The exercises and stretches they had me do were so beneficial to my body that it not only relieved my pain, but I can also now move more freely---in some cases much more than I’ve been able to do in years! I am so very thankful to those with whom I worked at Northern."

Core Values

Core When we think of a strong body, we often think of muscular arms and legs. But most experts agree that at the center of overall strength and fitness is the core, or torso, which includes the abdominals, back, and pelvis.

Having a strong torso is very important for protecting against injury. It provides the body with a stable base in which to function. A strong core not only helps to support posture and protect the spine, it is also vital when we reach, lift, squat, kneel, walk, and run. In physical therapy, we often incorporate core exercises into rehab for shoulder, knee, and even ankle problems. A strong core will help prevent undue stress on the joints of the body and keep you balanced and stable.

A Strong Center – exercises that benefit your core

Core exercise should be a part of your daily routine. If you’re currently working with a therapist at NPT, he or she will develop the exercises that suit your needs and goals. If you’d like to try something simple from home to begin, follow this easy exercise that focuses on engaging your core:

Pool fitness classes offered at NPT

FitnessIf you're looking for a fitness program that is comfortable, fun, and affordable, look no further than Northern Physical Therapy! Our Pool Fitness classes are currently offered at our Grant location and are designed to build flexibility, strength and cardio-vascular fitness, all with less stress on joints.

Aquatic exercise is extremely beneficial for people who suffer from back problems, arthritis and physical conditions such as injuries. The water's buoyancy reduces the impact of physical exertions to the joints, making it effective in supporting the body at increased range of motion.
If you're not sure whether pool classes are for you, try one free with our pool fitness pass.
