Community Involvement

At Northern Physical Therapy we believe in having fun and giving back to our communities. It is not uncommon to find our staff participating in charity golf outings, entering (and winning) local chili cookoffs, and sponsoring floats in the local parades. Keep reading to learn more about how we like to have fun and give back to our communities at Northern.

In June Gina & Susan, from our Coopersville office, were invited out for a day on the greens with fellow Coopersville business, IT Resource. Here you see Gina and Susan posing with the golf partners Todd Hekkema and Gary Lutz, both from IT Resource.

This April Northern hosted a wine tasting event featuring wines from around the world. Our event was very well received and a great time was had by all.

Northern Physical Therapy, in conjunction with the Coopersville Sportsman’s Club, sponsor the three time Chili Cook Off Champions. We have a great time getting all the local support of our patients, local business partners, family and friends.

Participating in our first Outhouse 500 race in historic downtown Coopersville this year (2010), we came out on top with a victory. Our Outhouse was also sponsored by Hecksel & Hecksel Water Well Drilling and Touch of Style Hair & Nail Salon.

With snow falling and Christmas carols ringing in the background, a Northern Physical Therapy sponsored float strolls down Main Street in the Coopersville and Wayland Santa Clause Parades.

One bright sunny day each June the whole Northern Physical Therapy team travels to Michigan Adventure to enjoy a fun filled day in the sun.

We assist in the Sports Injury Clinic at Michigan Orthopedic Sports Medicine in Grand Rapids. It runs yearly from late August to October.

In November of 2010 we celebrated a community open house at our Sparta location. Thanks to all who participated, attended, and supported Northern and the Sparta community!

This May we had a number of our team members participate in the 5/3rd River Bank Run. Nick Risendorph and Terri Jeurink ran the 10k. Susan Roemer walked the 5k with her mother, and Gina Otterbein and Jayne Schoenborn, friend and former patient of Northern, also ran the 5k. Pictured below are Gina & Jayne, and Terri & Ruth finishing the race.

Every July the guys from our Grant team participate in the Tiger Open Tennis Tournament.

All of our local schools host Career Day. We send a number of our therapists to each of these Career Days, allowing all of the local High School students to ask any questions they might have.

We love Halloween at Northern, and we've been known to come up with some pretty good costumes!

Every November the whole NPT team gathers together in our Grant Clinic to share in a Christmas Cookie exchange, make 600 Northern Christmas cards, and assemble gifts for all of our doctors and local business. We spend the day laughing and sharing different memories from the year.

August 9-14 is the 20th Annual Del Shannon Car Show and Coopersville Summerfest. There are a number of different events and activities going on throughout the entire week. Friday is the car cruise through Coopersville and Saturday is the car show.

The Northern Physical Therapy team celebrates the year with an annual Christmas party. We all gather for a different outing each year. We always have a great night shared with good friends and many laughs.

We participate in a number of business expos in all of the local communities; Sparta, Wayland, Coopersville, Allendale, Greenville, and Grant.

Each summer, a number of our staff members participate in local charity golf outings. The Coopersville Team participates in the NEO Forum Golf Outing, helping to raise funds for the anti-drug, alcohol & violence program in Coopersville Schools. Our Sparta Team participates in a golf outing hosted by the local rotary, and the Wayland team does a golf outing each year through the Chamber of Commerce and the Gun Lake Band of Indians.
